Eliza Pike is an Accredited Social Worker and the Director of Blackbird, a counselling and support service to assist women with the emotional adjustment to pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. Eliza has worked across the mental health sector for the past 18 years since graduating with a Bachelor of Social Work from The University of Queensland in 1999. She has worked for the Department of Human Services for over 10 years as part of the Sunshine Coast Assessment Services Team and the Social Work Service.
Prior to this, Eliza has worked across the mining, human resource and recruitment sectors but for the past seven years, has developed a specialised interest in maternal mental health. Her focus areas include postnatal recovery plans, fertility issues, mental health assessment, FIFO, traumatic birth experiences, premature births, postnatal depletion, depression and anxiety. Eliza will provide individual counselling in pregnancy and the postnatal period, workshops, organisational consultancy and supervision to other allied health professionals.
In early 2018, Eliza will be a registered provider for psychological services under Medicare offering patients a rebate on most services, if referred under a GP Mental Health Plan.
Eliza is Mum to Gracie aged 7 and Harry aged 5. She enjoys great music and fitness challenges.
